Fly over the Alps to behold the Wipp Valley at the Europabrücke and the Aletsch Glacier

Transcript

NARRATOR: The Bridge of Europe, in Austria, leads up to the Alps, Europe’s largest and tallest mountain range.

The eastern segment of the Alps extends across parts of Germany, Austria, and Slovenia.

These mountains create a natural boundary between the south and the rest of Europe.

People have been crossing the Alps through established routes, such as St. Gotthard Pass in southern Switzerland, since ancient times.

The Aletsch Glacier, the largest of the Alpine glaciers, looks like a frozen river. It slides into the valley at a speed of 10 to 30 meters a year.
