Watch Italy's Po River flow through the Piedmont region and drain into the fertile Po River valley

Transcript

NARRATOR: Italy's longest river, the Po, flows in the northern part of the country, through the Piedmont region and along borders of the Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, and Veneto regions. The river's drainage basin forms the Po valley, Italy's most important agricultural area.

Because the Po valley receives an even distribution of rain throughout the year, it has an agricultural advantage over the rest of the country.
