Tina Turner was born Anna Mae Bullock. When she first started performing, she used the stage name “Little Ann.” In 1960 she was given the moniker “Tina Turner” by her partner Ike Turner. (He reportedly had the name trademarked so that another singer could perform under the same name if she left the band.)
